I called the Birthright office for help. I had 2 children, my husband had left me, and I was then pregnant by another man. The second man left when he found out that I was pregnant. His first thought was to solve the problem with an abortion. I talked to my pastor who recommended that I call Birthright. I found myself crying as I told my story to the Birthright volunteer who was soon crying too! The volunteer tried to emphasize all the good things in my life. I have 2 kids who love me, a place to live, medical insurance, and some new friends that want to help me. The volunteer was in San Jose but gave me the name of a place in Paso Robles where I live, that could help me too. After we talked, the volunteer asked if she could call back in a week. I, of course, said, “Yes, please call again.”
By the time the volunteer called back a week later, I was much happier, with a great attitude. I felt like a new person because of the love that she had shown me. I decided to have my baby. My boyfriend came back and we plan to marry soon. I sent 3 ultrasound pictures of the baby, a picture of my other children and of me and my fiancee to my Birthright volunteer. She was pleased to receive them. Our baby girl was born on time and healthy. My life has made a complete turnaround. I am glad that I followed my pastor’s advice.
